Transportation and Logistics Centre
Hong Kong's transport and logistics facilities are being expanded, and
partnership with the Pearl River Delta Region strengthened, to enable development
into a logistics hub linking the Mainland with the world.
About 100 kilometres of strategic roads will be constructed and
improved in the 10-year period from 1998 to 2008. On completion of the planned railway projects,
about 70% of the population and 80% of employment will fall within the
railway catchment area.
Planned Logistics Facilities
The 68-hectare Container Terminal 9, was completed at the end of 2004.
Its 6 berths has a design capacity of handling more than 2.6 million
standard units a year.
A new logistics centre at the Hong Kong International Airport of
Chek Lap Kok with a floor space of 31,400 square meters has commenced
operation since March 2003. Additional floor with a floor space of 10,000 square
meters will be built in phase II. The facility can handle over 30,000
