Hong Kong's transport and logistics facilities are being expanded, and partnership with the Pearl River Delta Region strengthened, to enable development into a logistics hub linking the Mainland with the world.

About 100 kilometres of strategic roads will be constructed and improved in the 10-year period from 1998 to 2008. On completion of the planned railway projects, about 70% of the population and 80% of employment will fall within the railway catchment area.

Planned Logistics Facilities
The 68-hectare Container Terminal 9, was completed at the end of 2004.  Its 6 berths has a design capacity of handling more than 2.6 million standard units a year.
  
A new logistics centre at the Hong Kong International Airport of Chek Lap Kok with a floor space of 31,400 square meters has commenced operation since March 2003. Additional floor with a floor space of 10,000 square meters will be built in phase II. The facility can handle over 30,000 pallets of cargo annually.
